Amazon has come up with this awesome package for only 10.99$! It contains a premium slicer, a peeler, a recipe book, and also a bag to hold the slicer.
I'm definitely a pasta eater don't get me wrong, but I enjoy a healthier option such as zoodles, which are basically just spiralized vegetable noodles. You can use them with a marinara sauce, maybe a Thai peanut sauce, or even as a stir fry option.
This is one of the first gadgets I started using when diving into vegan cooking. You can also usually find the white slicer in stores for about 5.00$ if you rather go a cheaper route just to try it out to see if you like what the product has to offer.
Vegetables to start off spiralizing:
-Zucchini
-Yellow Squash
-Carrots
-Cucumber
-Sweet Potato
-Beets
A Simple Recipe for Beginners:
Take a zucchini and use the premium slicer to create as many zoodles as you want
(I usually use up to two zucchinis, because when they cook a lot of the water gets cooked out and the portion becomes smaller) the best tip I learned was after you spiralize the zucchini, set them aside and sprinkle a pinch of salt so that the moisture will be pulled out. They should set about 5 minutes and then they are ready to cook! For the sauce, I use cherry tomatoes that you will cut into two and as they cook in a pan, you will crush them with a spoon making them into a sauce consistency. After about 10-15 minutes cooking the tomatoes you should be ready to add basil, garlic, salt, or Italian herbs that bring out that marinara flavor. Once you have the zucchini noodles cooked to the texture you like, and the marinara sauce is finished, we can now mix the two together to create our perfect zoodles.
This is a very simple recipe, if you'd like to jazz it up you can add "Gardein" crumbles for a meatier version, or add "Follow your heart" Mozzarella shreds/Parmesan cheese. I recommend the follow your heart product, because out of all the vegan cheeses I've sampled, this one doesn't have the awful after taste some can create.
Keep it simple.
